Objective: Student will be able to assemble the turkey, santa, frankenstein, or pumpkin displaying their knowledge of the Second grade Dolch sight word list; as well as reciting the sight word asked or chosen from the pieces. Learning Targets: -student will be able to identify their sight words -student will be able to recite their sight words after identification Anticipatory Set: Student will go through flash cards of sight words; identifying each before the lesson (construction of activity) begins The Lesson: -First, the teacher will set up the Frankenstein activity for the student to start designing. -Next, the teacher will explain the purpose of the task to the student and how the cut outs are to be applied to Frankenstein (the methods of using a glue stick or tape). -Then, once the student has an understanding of the directions; the teacher will start having the student assemble their Frankenstein, while going over the sight words they are applying to the Frankenstein (via the decorations). -When the Frankenstein is completed and all sight words (via the body parts) have been applied, the teacher will start the informal summative assessment. -The teacher will begin the informal summative assessment by asking the student to find the sight word she gives them, followed by the student pronouncing the words correctly. -Once the student is finished identifying and correctly pronouncing their sight words the informal summative assessment will be over. -The teacher will then wrap up the lesson by reviewing with the student what they accomplished today, and will allow the student to put a sticker on their sticker chart. Assessment/Closure: student will recite the words on their constructed activity and go through their sight word flash cards. |
